Detail ITINERARY
📍🚗 Day-1 := Dehradun to Barkot Distance: 170 km | Duration: 6-7 hrs Altitude: 1,220 m / 4,000 ft
The journey to the Char Dham begins at the Dehradun from where we will travel to Barkot, a town in the Uttarkashi district. Located in Uttarkashi district at an altitude of 1,220 m, Barkot is a town in Uttarkashi district, on the banks of the Yamuna River. Barkot is a scenic town where the landscape stretches beautifully in with colorful apple orchards and the slopes verdant green with vegetation. The road to Barkot is very scenic and we will reach Barkot in the evening, and en route, we will also pass the beautiful and charming town of Mussorie, making a stop at Kempty Falls for lunch. From Barkot, you will get stunning views of Bandarpoonch Peak and it is a major stopover for pilgrims who wants to visit Gangotri and Yamunotri during the Char Dham season. Check into the hotel, have dinner, and rest well, tomorrow your day of actual trekking starts.
📍🚗 Day-2 : = Barkot to Yamunotri to Barkot Drive Distance: 36 km Trek Distance: 6 km (one way) | Duration: 6 hrs Altitude: 3,293 m / 10,804 ft
Today is the biggest day as you will visit one of the first Char Dhams, Yamunotri Dham. After our breakfast from Barkot, we will head towards Gangotri Dham. First, it’s a short drive to Janki Chatti/Phool Chatti. From here, it’s approximately a 6 km hike to Yamunotri. The trek is through the lush valley, dense conifers, rhododendrons, cacti, and numerous Himalayan shrubs. Yamunotri is the origin of River Yamuna, a highly revered place situated in the north of Uttarakhand. The Yamunotri Glacier at an elevation, of 6,387 meters is the source of the river Yamuna. The real source is Champasar Glacier closer to the temple. Yamunotri Dham is located at an altitude of 3293 m in the Western Garhwal Himalayas in the state of Uttarakhand and is the seat of Goddess Yamuna.

Barkot to Uttarkashi Distance: 100 km
From Barkot today you will visit the hub of adventures and spirituality, Uttarakashi. It is the renowned district of Uttarakhand where mountaineers, hikers, and pilgrims come every year for their mountain endeavours. Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) is located in Uttarakashi along with a variety of ashrams and temples. The town is considered comparable to Varanasi which is also on the banks of the river Ganges. Uttarkashi is located at a distance of approximately 90 km from Barkot and it takes 4 hrs to reach the town.
Uttarkashi is popular for its rich cultural heritage and immense natural abundance. Sweeping mountain views, decorate the town on all sides. The entire town is lined with many temples and holy places. One of the pious temples is the Vishwanath temple, believed to be the oldest one. It was redeveloped by Maharani Khaneti Devi of Tehri State in 1857. The entire temple is a huge site that comprises other shrines of Markandeya Rishi, Ganpati, and Sakshi Gopal. While you are at the premises take full advantage of the Akhand Abhishek and Akhand Jyoti.
📍🚗 Day-4:= Uttarkashi to Gangotri to Uttarkashi Distance: 100 km (one way) | Duration: 3-4 hrs Altitude: 3,415 m / 11,204 ft
Along the way, at Gangnani take the chance to bathe in Garam Kund. Henceforth the landscapes get mesmerizing as you pass through Harsil valley with Deodar trees blooming everywhere. Again at Gangotri wash away your sins and tiredness by taking a dip in the holy Ganga. Ganga river here is also called Bhagirathi. The revered Gangotri temple on the river banks was built by the Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa in the 18th Century. Gangotri Temple is located at an altitude of 3,100 m and is nestled in the Gangotri Ranges. The sacred river Ganga originates from the Gaumukh glacier in the Gangotri Valley. There are many legends attached to the origin of the River Ganga here.
📍🚗 Day- 5:= Rkashi to Fata Distance: 250 km | Duration: 8-9 hrs Altitude: 1,829 m / 6,000 ft
From Uttarkashi, the next celebrated stop is Sonprayag. Early in the morning after breakfast, we will start the drive towards Sonprayag. The route is extremely tranquil through Moolgarh and Lambgoan. Also, the sight of the beautiful Mandakini river at Tilwara is serene. The water body follows from Kedarnath (which you will be visiting soon).
📍🚗 Day- 6:= Fata to Kedarnath Drive Distance: 5 km Trek Distance: 25 km | Duration: 8-10 hrs Altitude: 3,583 m / 11,755 ft
Today will be a milestone of life as you will go to Kedarnath. There will be a medical check-up after which you will head to Sonprayag. Kedarnath needs no introduction. It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, a perfect Himalayan getaway with terrific historical and mythological prominence. More importantly, it is just a magnificent spot of beauty and serenity with the Kedarnath Range as the backdrop.
📍🚗 Day- 7:= Kedarnath to Fata Trek Distance: 16 km | Duration: 6-7 hrs Drive Distance: 10 km
📍🚗 Day- 8:= Fata To Pipalkoti Distance: 160 km | Duration: 8-9 hrs Altitude: 3,300 m / 10,827 ft
The last but not the least, Badrinath is the final stop of the Char Dhams. You will take a 7 hours long ride to Badrinath via Joshimath. It will also be your halting point for the day. Located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, Badrinath is the seat of Lord Vishnu. Not many know of the epic behind the name of Badrinath.

The last but not the least, Badrinath is the final stop of the Char Dhams. You will take a 7 hours long ride to Badrinath via Joshimath. It will also be your halting point for the day. Located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, Badrinath is the seat of Lord Vishnu. Not many know of the epic behind the name of Badrinath.
📍🚗 Day- 10:= Pipalkoti ToHaridwar, Distance: 330 km | Duration: 10-11 hrs
Now it’s the day to say goodbye to all the Dhams and head back home. The return journey follows a devotional path with Rudraprayag and Rishikesh on its way. Usually, the devotees take a quick bath in Taptkund before starting the return journey. You can capture the tourist locations of Mana village if you missed them yesterday
